A Look Inside the GLP-1 Nutrition Academy Curriculum

Our certification is built on a three-part, 12-module framework designed to take you from foundational knowledge to expert application. You will gain the scientific background, clinical nutritional skills, and behavioral coaching techniques needed to become a leader in this specialized field.

Part 1: GLP-1 Foundations & Patient Onboarding

Objective: To provide you with the core scientific knowledge and initial assessment skills required to support patients nutritionally starting on GLP-1 medications.

• Module 1: The Science of GLP-1 Agonists. You will master the mechanism of action, differentiate between the most common GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc.), and learn to articulate the full range of physiological benefits to your clients.

• Module 2: The Initial Consultation & Patient Assessment. Learn to define your scope of practice, utilize specialized intake forms to gather critical data, assess for potential nutritional deficiencies, and set realistic, collaborative goals that ensure long-term patient buy-in.

• Module 3: Foundational Nutrition for the GLP-1 Patient. This module provides the cornerstone of GLP-1 nutritional care. You'll learn to create protein-focused meal plans to preserve lean mass, use fiber and fluids to manage side effects, and teach clients how to maximize nutrient density when appetite is low.

Part 2: Advanced Application & Behavioral Support

Objective: To equip you with the nuanced skills to guide patients through dose adjustments, manage complex side effects, and integrate behavioral strategies for long-term adherence.

• Module 5: The Titration Phase: A Deep Dive. Gain confidence in guiding patients through standard dose escalations and understand the rationale behind "microdosing" and other off-label protocols prescribed by physicians to manage side effects and improve tolerability.

• Module 7: The Mind-Gut Connection & Behavioral Coaching. This is the heart of compassionate care. You will learn to coach clients through the profound psychological shifts of reduced "food noise," help them develop non-food coping mechanisms, and support them in building a new, healthier relationship with their body.

Part 3: Maintenance, Sustainability & Practice Growth

Objective: To empower you to support patients in the long-term maintenance phase and to build and market your specialized GLP-1 nutrition services successfully.

• Module 10: Preventing Weight Regain & Promoting Longevity. Develop the skills to create sustainable, long-term health plans. You'll learn the critical role of resistance training, how to track health markers, and how to create strategies that prevent weight regain.

• Module 11: Building Your GLP-1 Specialty Practice. Turn your expertise into a thriving practice. This module covers how to package your services, set your prices, and create collaborative relationships with prescribing physicians to build a strong referral network.

• Module 12: Case Studies & Practical Application. Synthesize your knowledge by walking through real-world case studies from initial consultation to maintenance. This module cements your learning and prepares you for any clinical scenario.
